Chris is Off to Colorado

It is with some sadness to announce that Chris Kadowaki has decided to leave the firm and move to Colorado. Chris worked for Dougherty & Associates for a little more than two years and during that time learned much with regards to financial planning and income tax issues. While here, he passed the exam toward being a Certified Financial Planner, became a registered investment advisor representative, and succeeded in the first part of the IRS Enrolled Agent certification program. He will take all that he has learned and received at our firm to the rocky mountain state, the home state of his long-time girlfriend.

After a few years of discussion, I have finally coaxed my oldest son, Seann, to come work for the firm. He has been living out in Los Angeles for 16 years where he has managed a department of about 25 employees in a privately owned company of about 120 people involved with film and television postproduction. Seann has a bachelor’s degree in molecular and microbiology from the University of Central Florida, a degree in recording arts from Full Sail University, and is certificated in paralegal work from UCLA.

Seann still has much to learn in the financial planning world, but his smarts and business experience will expedite this process. As always with the people I have hired, I look for integrity, good work habits, and the propensity to care about people. Since rules, technology, and regulations constantly change, it is never enough to just hire people that are currently competent. I believe that having my son in the firm will help to ensure that our reputation for genuinely caring for our clients through their financial life will continue for many years in to the future. And no, I’m not going anywhere any time soon.

As always, please call us with any questions.
