John A. Dougherty, CPA, MBA

John has been involved with helping his clients wade through the complexities of investments, taxes, and estate planning in Florida since 1989.

As a CPA, he must comply with and be regulated by Florida's Department of Professional Regulation. Dougherty Investment Advisors is also a registered investment advisor firm regulated by the State's Department of Banking and Finance. Each of these licenses brings with it testing and education requirements to ensure that clients and customers are protected.

Born and raised in Pennsylvania, John graduated in the top 5% of his class from LaSalle University where he majored in Finance. He completed his masters in business degree at New York University while working in New York City.

Before coming to Florida, John was a senior financial analyst for a Fortune 500 computer company, then worked for an international consulting firm where his clients included General Electric, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, and the US Army.

During his time in Florida, John has served as president of the Estate Planning Council of the Nature Coast and of the North Suncoast Chapter of CPAs. Dougherty has written several articles and two books regarding financial management, given lectures, and hosted a radio talk show on financial planning. John has served as trustee and vice chairman on the board of directors of Pasco-Hernando State College, being appointed by the Governor of the State.

John and his family have lived in Spring Hill for more than 30 years.
